Nudge Generator
Generate Nudge JSON without hand-editing the policy payload.
Nudge Generator is a configuration builder for the open-source Nudge project. It helps Jamf administrators set required macOS versions, deadlines, prompt timing, and operator-facing copy, then export a ready-to-deploy JSON payload.
Nudge JSON exportCopy or saveOperator-facing message fields
What it covers
| Setting area | Examples in the current release |
|---|---|
| Version requirement | Required macOS version and installation deadline |
| Prompt timing | Approaching window, imminent window, refresh intervals, and deferral limits |
| User-facing copy | Main header, subheader, content copy, and action button labels |
| Export | Copy JSON to clipboard or save the file locally for Jamf deployment |
How to use it
- Set the required macOS version and the enforcement date.
- Adjust reminder cadence and deferral behavior to match your rollout policy.
- Update the user-facing copy if your organization uses custom language.
- Review the generated JSON, then export or copy it into the Jamf workflow you use for Nudge deployment.
What this feature is and is not
Nudge Generator builds configuration. It does not deploy Nudge by itself and it does not replace the Jamf policy or profile you use to deliver Nudge to endpoints.
Coverage notes
- The generator targets Nudge-compatible JSON, not arbitrary software update policy formats.
- Export is local. Normal use does not require a hosted Veridominus backend.
- The app helps structure the payload, but administrators still need to choose how that payload is deployed in Jamf.
